News: Navitas opens new cancer rehabilitation center in Albuquerque in conjunction with the New mexico cancer center
Sep 11, 2007

DENVER, CO — Navitas Cancer Rehabilitation Centers of America (“Navitas”), the market leader in providing integrated and comprehensive cancer rehabilitation services, is pleased to announce that it has opened a new center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Albuquerque Center has been established in cooperation with New Mexico Oncology Hematology Consultants, LLC, (NMOHC) the largest independent oncology and hematology practice in the State of New Mexico. Within the Albuquerque Center, Navitas provides an integrated set of rehabilitation services designed specifically for cancer patients and survivors. These services include physical therapy, prescriptive exercise, lymphedema therapy, and psychological services, among others, all provided within a single location and in a highly personalized and integrated manner.

While initially operating at 7007 Wyoming Boulevard NE, the Center will be permanently housed within the New Mexico Cancer Center, NMOHC’s largest practice location, by the fourth quarter of 2007. The Center will be able to provide services to hundreds of people undergoing cancer treatment and will employ a team of clinicians and rehabilitative specialists from various disciplines. The Albuquerque site marks the third Navitas location, joining the company’s others in Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah.

“We are excited to expand our services to the cancer patients and survivors in New Mexico,” said Paul Barnes, Ph.D., President and CEO for Navitas. “Our relationship with NMCC gives us a great opportunity to deliver needed rehabilitative services to patients in conjunction with their cancer treatment. We believe our services will allow patients to better tolerate their cancer treatment, provide significant relief from the side effects of cancer and its treatment, and help ease the transition to cancer survivorship, both physically and emotionally.”

“Navitas brings a long-needed set of rehabilitative services that will complement the cancer care that our oncologists provide, “said Dr. Barbara McAneny, CEO of NMCC and Board Member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The fact that the Navitas protocols are evidence-based and built specifically for cancer patients was a critical factor for our decision to support this program. I think the co-location in our Cancer Center in the fall will only increase our ability to integrate care.”
