News: Attune Introduces Scripting Ecosystem for Resellers
Jan 30, 2007

Jan 30 -- Attune Systems, Inc., a provider of enterprise-class network file management solutions, has released details of its channel partner program designed to assist resellers in providing the latest file virtualization products and services to their customers, and build profitable service margins, the company said.

As part of the program, the company also announced its Remote Scripting Ecosystem and enhanced scripting capabilities, which allow resellers and customers to leverage a growing list of tailored scripting solutions created by Attune’s partnership ecosystem, the company said last week.

By participating in Attune’s Remote Scripting Ecosystem, both resellers and customers can add their own customized data handling scripts to the pool, in exchange for gaining access to those created by other Attune users, Attune of Santa Clara, California said. The customized solutions can be used for simple tasks such as retrieving data, as well as complex tasks such as dynamically growing storage repositories as needed, the company said. As part of the partner program, Attune Systems provides a set of scripts and policies, and also assists partners in the development of their own scripts, Attune added.

Another reseller program element is the new automated Symphony Report Generator, which, at the touch of a button, takes all of the heterogeneous storage resource performance information including throughput, latency, CPU utilization and memory utilization, and file data usage information like amount of duplicate data, and stale data, and puts it into an integrated graphical PDF (portable document format) report showing aggregate and individual details, according to Attune, a provider of enterprise-class network file management solutions.

Attune’s Maestro File Manager and Maestro Remote Scripting Engine serve as a platform upon which partners may develop custom scripting or offer ongoing, proactive storage and data monitoring services to their clients, Attune said. Developing periodic benchmark Symphony reports is a high-value service that only Attune partners can provide, the company said. Although Attune does not require customers and resellers to share the scripts, the company has found that they are willing to do so if it means they can access others, it added. This growing ecosystem of tool development and exchange is gaining momentum, Attune added.

Attune’s partner program also includes important elements like qualified sales lead generation and lead distribution to partners, field-based co-selling with Attune’s sales team, access to dedicated Attune sales representatives, and opportunity to leverage regional market development funds (MDF), Attune said. The program also includes account protection and deeper discounts through Attune’s Deal Registration Program, 24X7 access to the Attune protected partner website with useful tools, information, as well as case entry and management, and ongoing web-based and onsite training, Attune added.

Attune Systems’ solutions reduce file management complexity for enterprise storage environments while slashing operating costs and increasing scalability, the company said. The company’s Maestro File Manager is a file virtualization appliance that helps IT administrators discover, analyze, manage and optimize their existing, heterogeneous file storage resources without impacting end users, Attune added.

The policies and scripting capabilities add value to Harding Group Inc.’s offering and make it easier to customize its solutions for each customer’s environment, Harding of Arlington, Texas said. Harding is a member of Attune’s exclusive partner program.

With Attune, scripts and programs can be written on remote workstations, which then take action on the Maestro based upon predefined or custom events, Harding said. The reseller can run a script at the headquarters that polls remote Maestro systems at the customer’s locations and set up scripts to automatically take action to avoid service outages or performance problems, it added. Resellers can even be notified when storage is consumed or server performance issues occur, it added. The vendor can also use this information to go back to the customer and proactively sell more servers or offer another service to help them balance their servers and optimize storage, Harding added.
