Shoreline is positioned to invest in early stage opportunities that are reasonably valued and address large potential markets, taking advantage of the directors' experience as operators, founders and principal investors.
Many larger venture funds deploy their capital in more developed companies, creating interesting opportunities in the start-up and early stages. Shoreline complements these larger funds and provides them with a valuable source of deal flow. These firms have, in some cases, co-invested with Shoreline and have provided access to additional investment opportunities. Shoreline has co-invested with other venture funds including Alloy Ventures, American River Ventures, Integral Capital Partners, Menlo Ventures, Psilos Ventures and Shea Ventures.
While many of the larger venture funds focus on later stage businesses, Shoreline has committed to evaluating new ideas as early as possible. In addition to providing funding, we work closely with founders to assist in operations, new hires, follow-on financings, corporate governance and any number of other roles where our experience can be leveraged.
The Directors have access to high-quality deal flow. In some cases, this flow is often proprietary in nature and commitments are often made on a non-competitive and "sole sourced" basis. Opportunities originate from the numerous relationships the Directors have developed over the course of their careers. These relationships include other venture capitalists, successful entrepreneurs, attorneys, accountants, consultants, universities, investment banks and others.
